What is it for?

UK digital passport photo rules

For online applications, GOV.UK asks for a digital photo at least 600 pixels wide and 750 pixels tall, with a file size between 50 KB and 10 MB. The background should be plain and light, with no shadows, and your face should be clearly visible with a neutral expression. Check the current rules on GOV.UK before applying.

How to use it

  1. Drop your photo into the box above. The UK preset sets 600 × 750 pixels.
  2. Leave Max size empty. The file must stay above 50 KB, and at this size it will.
  3. Download the JPG and upload it to the application.

Questions

Is bigger better for the UK form?

A larger photo is fine as long as it stays under 10 MB. 600 × 750 is the minimum, not a fixed size.

Why does my photo need to be over 50 KB?

Very small files lose the detail needed to check your face. Don't compress below 50 KB.

Do you upload my photo?

No. SizeRight runs entirely in your browser. Your photo is never sent to a server, so passport and ID photos stay on your device.

Is SizeRight free?

Yes. There is no sign-up and no watermark. The site is supported by ads.
