What is it for?

The Schengen photo format

Schengen visa applications use the international passport photo format of 35 mm wide by 45 mm tall. At a print resolution of 300 dots per inch that is 413 × 531 pixels, which is what this preset produces. The face should take up about 70–80% of the photo height, against a plain light background, with a neutral expression and eyes open.

Each consulate and visa center can add its own rules, for example a maximum file size for online forms. Check the website of the embassy or visa center you are applying through.

How to use it

  1. Drop a straight-on photo into the box above. The Schengen preset is already selected.
  2. If the online form has a size limit, type it into Max size.
  3. Download the JPG. To print, place it on a 10 × 15 cm photo sheet at 35 × 45 mm.
